Barnaby Hooper

I'm glad this whole baby mess is over. I didn't even really do much with it-every time I held the baby it cried and then I would cry and that's no good at all. I'm not having one of those for a very very long time. If ever. Do you think when you grow up you suddenly like screaming babies and smelly things and throw up? If so, I don't want to grow up. I don't understand why mum and dad put up with us if we all did that.

We're supposed to be working on boggarts this week, and I'm really scared. I don't know what I'll see when we see one. Sometimes I'm fearless, I think, but not knowing something is what scares me most of all. How do we prepare to face something we don't know yet? Do other 5th years already know their biggest fear?

Thankfully there's Art Collective to look forward to. My dormmates might be annoyed, but I've been making quite the pile of found art sculpture. Actually, that bust I made of Scorpius Malfoy from cheese was rather good, too bad it had to be eaten before it went bad. If anyone is interested, this is what I've been working on so far:

So...can I just ask why Audrey was wearing a costume when it isn't Halloween?

I'm starting to think the whole castle is cursed for 5th years. I felt bad that I tripped on my way to class again, but I only broke a finger, and Madam Zest fixed me up fine (it's still at a funny angle, I've broken this one twice), and now it seems Callum had an accident too. Perhaps we all need to be more careful around here.

I've been trying my hand at found object sculpture. For one, it's inexpensive. I just have to go through and pick up broken bits people drop and check the bins on occasion. I like the idea that something broken and unwanted can become something new and special. My first few efforts as a child were less than impressive, but I think my newest one is quite good:

I wish I could learn about Apparation, but Professor Longbottom has said that they may delay my learning for a while until I can be accident free. Perhaps that's why injuries are on the brain.

I really had such a good time with Amelia at the gala, so I am going to ask her brother for permission to go on a date to Hogsmede. Wish me luck!

Hi. You're really Thanks for the fun at the gala and the New Year's party. I had a question, but I think I should wait until your brother responds until I ask in case I get disappointed.

I don't know what it is, but exam time always puts me on edge. I'm glad there are so many things for us to look forward to that I'm distracted from being nervous. I've been making felt corsages for Amelia for the gala, and I have four different ones done already!

This is my favorite one so far. I can teach anyone to make them, you just have to be careful. The first time I tried one I burned my finger a couple times. And set fire to my bed post. I probably shouldn't have been making them on my bed in the first place.

Anyone want to study for Potions? I'm going to fail for sure, but I should at least try!

After Will posted pictures of his family, and Athena got me thinking about how so many people have been talking about negative things, I thought I would share some happy things. Nothing makes me happier than my family. I have two of the best sisters in the world in Ava and Audrey. I'm lucky to have two special girls like them to guide me, because I am lost a lot. My first year I got lost three times in just the first week, and they are always willing to take me to the hospital wing when I fall down the stairs again. I can still remember when Ava carried me all the way home when I fell out of the tree near our house.

I wish we could wear costumes every day, it was so fun! I also would like to thank officially my very nice date Athena for being quite gracious. I hope you liked the flowers!

What I'm REALLY excited about is the play! I have so many ideas for sets and props and things, though Nurse Zest already cornered me in the hallway today and said she was worried and I guess she's banned me from using a hammer but I can still use a paintbrush and screwdriver and such so I will still be useful Ophelia.

I'm really excited to learn how to make new food, but I apologize in advance because I have no idea how to cook! I don't know what we should make, but at least we already know lots of Scottish food, since that's where we are! I just vote we don't have haggis because I don't really like the smell. Ideas?

Well well, I had so much fun in Hogsmeade! If anyone needs sweets, I used ALL of my pocket money on them, so that's the plus side! The negative side is that I used up all my pocket money on sweets so now I will need to be VERY creative with my bear costume. I knew that there was a problem with going on just sugar all day. Also, I had a huge headache when I woke up the next day. I wonder if that's what it's like to be over hung after drinking. Anyone know? I've only ever had a butterbeer or two. I don't know about these things.

Also: do I need to have a date to go to the dance? I think I would like one. Anyone want to come with me, I am more like a teddy bear, not a scary one.
